Top of the Rock Restaurant and Brewery
About This Spot
Perched richly in the rolling landscape of Kimball, Tennessee, Top of the Rock Restaurant and Brewery invites you into a setting where hospitality feels as natural as the expansive views outside its windows. Arriving here, you sense a calm that stretches across the open-air patio and cozy indoor spaces alike — a gentle invitation to pause and enjoy the moment.
The mood is comfortably unhurried, a welcoming balance between relaxed mountain charm and the quiet buzz of conviviality found in a well-loved brewpub. Whether you find yourself nestled in a snug booth or out on the veranda soaking in the sweeping scenery, the atmosphere encourages connection — with friends, with good food, and with the subtle hum of nature beyond.
Within this balance, the menu plays its part effortlessly. Thoughtfully crafted dishes come with the kind of warmth that makes you linger; consider the satisfying texture of beer-battered fish and chips, or the homey richness of a club sandwich piled high with fresh ingredients. There’s a genuine craft to the brews as well, with the local IPA and a carefully curated beer flight perfectly complementing the food, inviting you to explore flavors at your own pace.
True to its character, Top of the Rock feels like an intimate discovery — a place where the attentive, quietly knowledgeable staff share more than just plates and glasses. They bring stories to your table, pointing out sights that stretch over neighboring states, or suggesting local corners worth a visit after your meal. Through these moments, the experience transcends dining and becomes a shared sense of place, heightened by the refreshing mountain air and a horizon painted in soft hues.
In all, this is a spot where food, drink, and vistas combine into a quietly memorable outing — one that is enhanced by thoughtful service and a spirit of easy comfort. It’s not just about the delicious bites or the craft beers; it’s about the gentle rhythm of time slowed down, enjoyed fully, and felt deeply in a beautiful corner of Tennessee.

I visited the restaurant last weekend and the view was the first thing that grabbed me. We sat outside and part of the view on the right was blocked by the balcony. It still was a great spot to relax and take everything in. The Park Summit has breathtaking view! The service was mellow. Not super energetic but they checked on us often and kept our drinks filled. I went for the seasonal steak and ale pie. The crust on top was really flaky and tasty but the filling was a bit dry for me. The flavor was good, just not enough to make me want to finish the whole thing. The side salad was fresh but the portion was tiny and didn’t have much seasoning. Overall the food is ok but nothing stand out for me. Could be a great spot for a date.

Ariel was very polite and answered all our questions about the menu. It was our first visit, for our 18th wedding anniversary. We appreciated Ariel asking Stephanie to tell us about the view and where AL, GA and TN intersect and where we could go to see it up close. We overheard Stephanie telling the table next to us, and Ariel asked her to come tell us when we asked. The food was delicious!! We loved the artichoke/Spinach dip bread bowl that Ariel recommended. We will be back!

We love going to top of the Rock every time we come to Monteagle. The food is great and the service is even better. The views are something to behold. We ate in an igloo this time and it was pretty neat.

We couldn't see the view as our reservation was at night which was sad but food was good. I had salmon and he had steak. Both were good. His was cook a bit beyond his preference but he was fine with it. Appetizers were really good. Our server was sweet. The cookie dessert was amazing! Also the meal was very affordable. I feel like you get a good bang for your buck.

Views were outstanding. Truly amazing. Stephanie was the best and gave us local gems to visit in the area. Service and food were legendary. Get the 10 oz Filet Mignon. Cooked to perfection and the most tender I’ve ever had. Came here all the way from Yuma, Arizona. You won’t want to miss out on this gem in the mountains.

Heading home from Chattanooga and needed a place to eat that wasn't a chain or something we have experienced before so we stopped at Top of the Rock Restaurant and Brewery. We were pretty impressed with the atmosphere and the overall quality of the food, but the biggest highlight for me was the service. Its become so hard to find good service post 2020, and when I experience it, I brag about it. Waitress was kind, welcoming, prompt, attentive, and just a pleasure to have as a server. I rate my quality of service on if my drinks ever go dry for long periods of time. My soft drink was never empty. The food was very good, we had the smash burger and it was easily in my top 5 best burgers ever tasted. We ordered some pizzas to go and while they were good, it was odd to order a Chicken, Bacon, Ranch pizza made with a base red sauce when normally you would expect ranch to be the base sauce. That was the only odd thing we can shrug on though. Overall experience was great and will definitely be heading back in the future.

Today we had lunch at Top of the Rock Restaurant and Brewery. The view was stunning. The restaurant was bright, warm and welcoming. I had the shrimp and grits which was very good. My hubby had the breakfast burger that was huge and had to be smashed down to eat. He said it was very good. I’m sure it’s very beautiful in the spring, as well. If you visiting in the area, I recommend stopping in.

This was our first time eating here, but it will not be our last. We drove over from Huntsville for an event and decided to try the restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great. There are also beautiful views. My husband had the Seared Salmon and Beuree Blanc. I had the Steakhouse Burger and fries. We also ordered dessert. We ordered the Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie and Ice Cream. It was delicious. Reservations are recommended.
